ShockingBlue Studio

Privacy policy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

1. Who we are

ShockingBlue Studio is an independent web design studio run as a sole proprietorship by Keisuke Sakurai in Tokyo, Japan. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: hello@shockingbluestudio.com.

2. What we collect

When you contact us: your name, email address, company, website address and the content of your messages.

Business outreach: we may collect business contact details that a company publishes on its own website or in public business directories — the business name, a general company email address and the website address — so that we can send one relevant proposal about that company's website.

When you visit this website: our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address and browser information to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This website does not use cookies.

3. Why we use it

To answer your enquiries and prepare quotes (steps you ask for before a contract), to deliver projects we agree on (contract), to send relevant business proposals and keep a record of who asked not to be contacted (our legitimate interest in offering our services to businesses), and to keep this website secure (legitimate interest).

4. Stopping our emails

Reply “no thanks” or “unsubscribe” to any email from us and we will stop contacting you. We keep only the minimum needed — the business name and email address — to make sure we do not contact you again.

5. Who we share it with

We use service providers for email, website hosting and payments (for clients). They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service. We do not sell personal data.

6. International transfers

We are based in Japan. The European Commission has recognised Japan as providing an adequate level of protection for personal data. Our service providers may process data in other countries under their own safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

7. How long we keep it

Outreach data is deleted within 12 months if we have not heard back, except the do-not-contact record described above. Enquiries and client records are kept for as long as the project and our relationship require, and for as long as Japanese tax and accounting law requires.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. Email hello@shockingbluestudio.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority — for example Datatilsynet in Norway or the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
